Childhood Obesity: A Health Concern That Needs to be Addressed
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), "approximately 17% (12.5 million) of children and adolescents are obese" in the United States. The CDC also believes that this generation of children will likely have a shorter lifespan than those of their parents.
Childhood obesity causes social ineptitude and low self-esteem, among others.
 Difference between Overweight and Obese

Obesity is defined as the accumulation of excess body fat that may have a negative effect on health. Overweight is excess body weight for a particular height as a result of fat, muscle, bone, etc.


Anyone can prevent childhood obesity. Exercise and nutritional foods are some of the simple ways that can lower the percentage of obesity in the United States and more so the world.
The everyday American lifestyle has contributed to people eventually becoming overweight and obese.
